Places In Peril: Metcalfe Update

Since being nominated by Landmarks and named to Georgia Trust's Places in Peril 2009, Metcalfe residents have been busy working to rejuvenate their community and the Metcalfe Community Association. Their most recent event was a BBQ fundraiser on February 27. Over 150 tickets were sold which raised over $800 for the community association.
The event also featured a presentation by jb+A Community Advantage consultants who reported their findings from a November 2009 community visioning session and also showed renderings of how Metcalfe could look after a clean-up and streetscaping.
This is just one of a flurry of events that have taken place in Metcalfe over the past several months including a Hands On Thomas County day of work on the Rushin House, a Fish Fry and Watermelon Festival, and an Ice Cream Social.
