Odds still 50-50 that you will attend our annual Derby Party & Fundraiser? We're betting these fun happenings will get you out of the starting gate and racing to Pebble Hill Plantation on Saturday, May 1!
Come early (3:30 pm) and attend a pre-Derby wine class & tasting hosted by A Big Slice/Vini Code. It's sure to get you primed for the big event! Tickets are $30; Free to Sponsors. Space is limited; you must rsvp for this event. Call our office for more information.
The official Derby Party starts at 4:30 pm. Enjoy live, acoustic bluegrass music performed by Bob & Mary Z. Cox on banjo and guitar. Visit their Web site www.maryzcox.com for a preview.
Don't forget to wear your finest hat! We'll have judges on hand to select the most beautiful, creative and craziest hats in the Derby Hat Contest. If you don't have one yet, be sure to visit the Derby Hat Show on Thursday, April 29 from 6-8pm at Joolz on Broad Street.
While you're waiting for the big race to start at 6:15, savor a mint julep – the official drink of the Kentucky Derby while deciding how many tickets to buy for the Derby Raffles. Enter to win the Be A Part of Thomasville Raffle Package featuring family memberships to the YMCA, Cultural Center, Birdsong, Landmarks, Friends of the Library, Pebble Hill Plantation, as well as tickets to Wild Adventures. Or choose a chance to win the Beautiful in Thomasville Package featuring skin treatments by Plastic Surgery Associates of South Georgia. There's also a 50/50 Cash Pot Raffle, as well as "wagering" on the official Kentucky Derby Race. Enter one or enter all as many times as you like! Cash and checks accepted for these fundraising activities.
Finish out the evening with a traditional Derby meal, including burgoo and bread pudding, which you can work off dancing the night away under the stars. All this fun, all for a good cause!
