Invitation to Bid – Brantley House, Quitman

The Quitman United Methodist Church will be accepting bids on the "Brantley House" located at South Jefferson Street in Quitman, Georgia. This bid will be for the house only. This home is one of the few remaining "Queen Anne Cottages". It is a one story single family dwelling, 1681 sq feet, hardwood floors, and two porches. (See tax info and sketch here. Note that there are two buildings on the parcel and only the Queen Anne cottage is involved in the bid).
The Brantley House is a contributing structure in the Quitman National Register Historic District. Historic rehabilitation tax credits may be available if it is moved to a location similar to its current location, within the Historic District. These credits can be worth as much as 45% of the qualified rehabilitation expenses. The District Map may be viewed here. The successful bidder will be responsible for moving the house and ensuring all remaining debris is cleared from the lot. The removal of the house and the clearing of the lot shall be completed within 60 days of bid acceptance. All bids should include a bid amount along with the address of the proposed new location where the house will be moved. The successful bidder shall be required to use a bonded and insured mover for this project.
