Heritage Education Workshop for Educators
Land Between Two Rivers: Natural and Cultural Heritage of the Red Hills Region
Every summer in June. Registration begins in May. Class size: 20. Free to educators.
Educators learn how to use local, historic, natural and cultural resources in their classroom. This free workshop provides the tools necessary to develop appropriate lesson plans. Landmarks’ Heritage Education Coordinator will assist teachers throughout the year as they implement these plans. The program also provides funding for field trips to historic sites in Thomas , Grady & Leon Counties.
Open to educators in all grade levels and subjects.

Students create their own Box City
Preservation Programs for Students
Slide Presentations
Students engage in an interactive photographic presentation that helps them learn to read the built environment. Students learn new vocabulary and architectural details and styles. They also learn how to look at a photo and estimate the date the photo was taken.
Best for grades 2nd and up. Free.
Downtown Scavenger Hunt
Students apply what they have learned in the slide presentations to a downtown Architectural Details Scavenger Hunt.
Appropriate for students 2nd – 6th grade. Free.
Box City
Students learn the principles of urban planning and how historic preservation can play a role in good urban design.
Best for grades 2nd and up.
