Historian and Author Charlotte Thomas Marshall will give an illustrated presentation of some of the family connections, personalities and landmarks of the Metcalfe community on May 6 at 3:00 pm at the Thomas County Museum of History. Art featuring scenes of Metcalfe from the Brookwood School Spring Art Classes will also be on display. This event is FREE and open to the public.
Originally a native of Donalsonville, Charlotte grew up with weekly Sunday dinners at the home of her grandparents, Willie (Rushin) and Owen A. Thomas, which was situated between Metcalfe and Friendship Cemetery. Charlotte has strong family ties to the area and is kin on her grandfather Thomas' side to the Montgomery, Dixon, Swift, Taylor, Duggar, Forrest, Knapp, Stringer, Horne, Futch, Lilly, Reynold, White and Thomas families – to some more than one way. On her grandmother Rushin's side, Charlotte is kin to another host of Thomas and Grady County families including the Richters, Watkins, Owens, Fieldings, Chastains and Brooms. Come share stories and remembrances of Metcalfe's rich past, and support its bright future. For more details, click here.
Presented by the Metcalfe Heritage Society.
